Back to the Not so Basic.
Fashion’s biggest show out is all set for another year, with the 2024 Met Gala having just announced next year’s theme: “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion”.
After last year’s ode to Karl Lagerfeld and the wider American fashion landscape, this coming Met Gala is all set to blow the event wide open by celebrating the opening of the spring 2024 exhibition at The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, showcasing around 250 never-seen-before works from the Institute’s permanent collection. This exhibition will include an array of pieces from an eclectic selection of iconic designers, both modern and heritage, from Stella McCartney and Connor Ives to Christian Dior and Yves Saint Laurent.
French Director and CEO of The Met, Marina Kellen, stated the following about the exhibition:
“This innovative show will push the boundaries of our imagination and invite us to experience many facets of a work, to learn more about its history, and, ultimately, to gain a deeper appreciation of its beauty.”
